The Government declares VINSEUM a museum of national interest

With this declaration, the Government recognizes that VINSEUM is the reference facility for Catalonia’s wine heritage.

The Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya has agreed today to declare VINSEUM Museum of the Cultures of Wine of Catalonia as a Museum of National Interest, in recognition of the quality and value of its collections, which go beyond local interest.

According to the statement issued today by the Government, VINSEUM obtains this category due to the importance and high value of the set of cultural assets that constitute the museum’s collections; the general and specific characteristics of its collections; and the interest of its museum heritage, which goes beyond its framework and has special significance for Catalonia’s cultural heritage.

According to the Government, it also deserves this distinction for its relevant cultural, research, and educational action with a marked social vocation, in collaboration with the territory’s associative and cultural fabric. Therefore, VINSEUM is the national reference facility that recovers, preserves, researches, interprets, and disseminates Catalonia’s wine heritage.

The institution has a unique and singular collection for its theme linked to wine cultures. This work has consolidated VINSEUM as a reference cultural facility in the dissemination of wine cultures and the heritage that identifies it, and has made it worthy of important state and international recognition.
